The Blue Group
One of the colors that I enjoy painting with is Blue. It is soothing and has a calming effect as I view it and paint in it. It is a very appealing color for me. As a result, I have at times restricted my palette to the use of blue hues in some of my paintings.
From amongst these artworks, I painted #13 early on in the “Wheel within a Wheel” series.

This later group of works, I worked on during one of my vacations in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico during the weeks of Christmas and New Year’s – This group of artworks includes #68-73 from “Wheel within a Wheel” – (details: 12 in x 9 in, Watercolor/Gouache, 2010).

The effect color has on our moods is a subject of serious study. Color as a subject of study and design element holds a pivotal role in my work and it is a source of fascination and one I explore avidly in my artwork. (A fun read on this subject of color is “Bright Earth: Art and the Invention of Color” by Philip Ball.)
I hope you find these artworks refreshing and calming as you view them — much as I have experienced while creating and seeing them.
